In my travels I always buy a book or two so that when I return home I can enjoy my memories in the years to come by picking up one of my books in my library.
At my very first Clan Hunter Gathering in 2014 we stayed at a lovely B&B in Fairlie, a village near Hunterston Castle. The owner of the B&B was such a lovely lady and her brother had written a book about the Ayrshire Coastal Path and she was going to visit her brother that day and I suggested she might ask him to sign my book. He did and now I have memories of him and Ailsa who was named after Ailsa Craig she told us. Title of his book is Ayrshire Coastal Path by James A. Begg.
At the Clan Hunter Gathering I met one of our officers, Ian Hunter, and he also had written a book which he kindly signed. He even gave me a penny for luck! Ian’s book is titled Murder in Lancashire.
Another author and book I purchased was a children’s book about the castle. I love that book and Barbara Hunter was a special lady and now a Hunter friend. Her book is titled Hunterston Happenings.
