Fife had 993 Hunters in the 1881 census. This was the 4th largest County total, with 0.6% of the population named Hunter.
Fife is a peninsula on the east coast, north of Edinburgh (Firth of Forth) and south of Dundee (Firth of Tay).
The main town is Kirkcaldy but known best for St. Andrews, Dunfermline and Falkland.
The 19th century saw a large influx of workers to the coal fields, due to the new industrial age.
