My First Trip to Scotland

Traveling to Scotland

There is a lovely B&B in the village of Fairlie, Scotland, that I personally think was the perfect place to stay while attending my very first Clan Hunter Gathering in 2014. It is close to Hunterston Castle and West Kilbride.

Before I left the US I knew I was going to love, Ailsa. She was so helpful in answering all of my questions and her B&B was perfect. Our room was so comfortable, a private bath with a hot water bottle, which I thought was just right for my cold feet after walking around Hunterston Estate in a drizzle of rain. There was a little tea table and a wonderful selection of teas, and the next morning our breakfast was so Scottish. My note in my travel journal was “a lovely cozy B&B”.

This next time I won’t be staying at Ferry Row because of my group tour to the Clan Hunter Gathering in 2017, but I will stay there in the years to come.

Aye,

Carol

Author: Hunter One Name Study

I have been researching my family tree for over thirty-three years and a member of Clan Hunter. In 2015 I registered the surname Hunter with the Guild of One-Name Studies and this blog will be my goal to share my research, photos, and as the clan's travel agent 2017 I will be adding our Clan Hunter Gathering 2017 which was very special because our Clan Hunter's 30th Laird participated in the opening of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo at Edinburgh Castle August 5th, 10:30 p.m. with her clansmen. Find A Grave contributor #47833985 Being a travel agent since 1991 I am a SCOTSagent, BRITagent, and at the present have two group tours to Scotland in 2017. One is a Clan Hunter Gathering at Hunterston Castle given by Madam Pauline Hunter of Hunterston, 30th Laird of Clan Hunter.
